Nach zwei Jahren als Head Coach der Hamburg Huskies in der GFL2, wird Kendral Ellison ab nächster Saison nicht mehr zur Verfügung stehen. Darüber informierte er den Verein diese Woche. Am Freitagabend gaben dann der Vorstand und Kendral seine Entscheidung gegenüber den Spielern in einer Videokonferenz bekannt. „Wir bedanken uns bei Coach Kendral für die großartige Arbeit, die er in den vergangenen Jahren geleistet hat und besonders für sein Engagement, im Verein einen neuen Weg einzuschlagen und eine langfristigen Plan zu etablieren“, sagt Vorstandsmitglied Johannes Liebnau. Nun soll sich eine Taskforce um einen Nachfolger kümmern. „Wir haben bereits erste Gespräche mit möglichen Kandidaten geführt und sind äußerst zuversichtlich einen würdigen Nachfolger finden zu können, der den eingeschlagenen Weg fortführen wird“, so Liebnau.
Coach Kendral richtete folgende Worte an die Huskies Organisation:
„To the Huskies organization I would like to say thank you! Thank you for believing in me not only as a player but also as a coach. Thank you for giving me my first opportunity to be a head coach. Thank you for seeing and supporting my vision to the best of your ability. In the end I hope that I’m leaving the program in a better situation than I received it. I am confident, that you will find a suiting successor soon.
To the staff, coaches, and others working behind the scenes I would like to say thank you. Thank you for the countless hours of work you put in that no one sees. Most importantly thank you for putting up with me as I know that I demand a lot.
To the fans, sponsors, supporters, thank you for sticking with us through the good and the bad.
Most importantly, to the players...this decision was one of the hardest that I’ve had to make because of you. Some of you I’ve coached since you were youth players and many of you I’ve gone to war with as a player. Our connections go beyond football, beyond the field. There is so much I can say about you all but what’s understood never has to be said.
My main goal was to give you all something to be proud of and at the end of the day I hope that you’re proud of how far you’ve come. The Huskies are here and the Huskies are here to stay and that’s because you now understand what it takes. The Brotherhood is one that we will talk about forever because it’s lifelong and can’t be broken.
